Guests sailing aboard Virgin Voyages’ Valiant Lady will soon have a brand-new culinary experience waiting for them.
The cruise line has announced the debut of Ariya, a vibrant Indian restaurant that will bring bold flavors, immersive design, and an entirely new dining concept to the ship.
The restaurant will officially launch in late May 2026 following the vessel’s scheduled dry dock.
Once the ship returns to service, passengers will be able to enjoy this unique dining venue during evening hours while the space continues to operate as a familiar daytime restaurant.
Virgin Voyages says the new concept is designed to deliver more than just a meal — it aims to create a memorable atmosphere where guests can relax, socialize, and explore authentic Indian cuisine at sea.
A Restaurant That Transforms From Day to Night

One interesting feature of Ariya is that it will not be a completely separate restaurant location. Instead, it will take over the existing Razzle Dazzle venue each evening.
During the daytime, Razzle Dazzle will continue serving its usual breakfast and brunch offerings.
But once evening arrives, the venue will transform into a fully immersive Indian dining experience.
The redesigned nighttime space will include:
- Seating for approximately 220 guests.
- Soft, atmospheric lighting.
- Cozy booth seating inspired by Indian design.
- A lively soundtrack featuring classical Indian music.
The goal is to create an environment that feels completely different from the daytime restaurant — transporting diners into a vibrant cultural setting centered around food, music, and storytelling.
Design Inspired by Indian Culture and Heritage
Virgin Voyages is placing a strong focus on the restaurant’s visual experience as well as the menu.
Inside the venue, guests will notice a beautifully designed semi-private dining area located at the center of the restaurant.
Decorative screens surround the space, giving it the appearance of a jewel box — a design inspired by traditional Indian craftsmanship.
This layout allows groups of diners to enjoy a slightly more intimate setting while still feeling part of the restaurant’s lively atmosphere.
The cruise line says every design element — from lighting to seating to music — was chosen to help guests feel as though they’ve stepped into a completely different world.
The Meaning Behind the Name “Ariya”

The name of the new restaurant also carries a personal connection to Virgin Voyages’ founder.
Ariya was the name of Sir Richard Branson’s grandmother, who originally came from Cuddalore, a coastal town in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu.
By choosing this name, the cruise line is honoring both a family connection and the cultural heritage behind the cuisine.
Virgin Voyages executives say the restaurant represents the next step in their effort to bring unique dining concepts to their ships.
Celebrity Chef Behind the Menu
The food and drinks served at Ariya were developed through a partnership with Chef Maneet Chauhan, a well-known culinary figure in the United States.
Chef Chauhan is widely recognized for:
- Her appearances on cooking television shows.
- Her successful restaurants.
- Several popular cookbooks focused on Indian cuisine.
Working alongside Virgin Voyages’ culinary team, she helped create a menu designed to showcase the diversity of Indian flavors while keeping dishes accessible and exciting for cruise guests.
Signature Dishes Guests Can Expect
The restaurant’s menu will highlight both classic Indian dishes and regional specialties from across the country.
Some of the standout dishes include:
- Lamb Shank Biryani – slow-cooked lamb served with aromatic rice and spices.
- Goan Curried Mussels – seafood prepared with coastal Indian flavors.
- Malabar Coconut Crab Cake – inspired by southern Indian cooking traditions.
- Puffed Rice & Avocado Chaat – a fresh twist on a famous Indian street food.
- Tandoori Pistachio-Crusted Snapper – seafood cooked with traditional tandoor techniques.
One key focus of the menu will be chaat, a category of Indian street snacks known for their bold combination of flavors.
Chaat dishes often balance multiple tastes at once — including sweet, tangy, spicy, and crunchy elements — making them particularly popular among diners looking for something exciting and flavorful.
A Cocktail Menu Inspired by Indian Flavors

Along with the food, Ariya will also feature a carefully crafted bar menu designed to complement the restaurant’s cuisine.
Each guest will begin their dining experience with a complimentary welcome drink called jaljeera.
This refreshing beverage blends ingredients such as:
- Tamarind
- Cumin
- Fresh herbs
The drink acts as a palate cleanser and sets the tone for the flavors that follow.
After the welcome drink, guests can choose from a variety of unique cocktails inspired by Indian ingredients.
Some highlights include:
- Saffron & Silk – Scotch infused with saffron and toasted coconut smoke
- Maharani Morning – a mix of rose, cardamom, and sparkling wine
- Bangalore Old Fashioned – a creative take on the classic cocktail featuring jaggery and cardamom
For passengers who prefer non-alcoholic beverages, the menu will also include zero-proof options such as Seventh Leaf, a botanical-inspired mocktail.
When the Restaurant Will Open
Ariya will officially debut after Valiant Lady completes a major dry dock upgrade in May 2026.
The ship is scheduled to undergo a “glow up” renovation from May 9 through May 25, during which several enhancements will be introduced onboard.
Once the vessel returns to service on May 25, Ariya will open its doors to guests for the first time.
Where Valiant Lady Will Sail Next
Following the dry dock, the ship will begin its European cruise season.
Initially, Valiant Lady will be based in Barcelona, Spain, offering sailings ranging from six to eight nights.
These itineraries will visit destinations across:
- Spain
- France
- Italy
Later in the season, the ship will temporarily move to Portsmouth in the United Kingdom, where it will operate longer cruises lasting 7 to 15 nights.
Those sailings will explore destinations such as:
- England
- Scotland
- Ireland
- Iceland
- The Netherlands
A New Culinary Experience at Sea
Virgin Voyages has built its reputation around offering unique dining experiences instead of traditional cruise buffets.
With the introduction of Ariya, the cruise line is continuing that strategy by bringing a cuisine rarely seen on cruise ships to center stage.
For guests sailing aboard Valiant Lady, the new restaurant promises something different — combining flavorful Indian dishes, immersive design, and creative cocktails into one memorable night at sea.
