After spending just over two weeks in a shipyard in Palermo, Italy, the adults-only vessel has emerged with upgraded public spaces, refreshed entertainment venues, new shopping experiences, and perhaps most notably, an entirely new specialty restaurant that is already generating excitement among food lovers.
Even though the ship is relatively young by cruise industry standards, Virgin Voyages clearly wanted to ensure Valiant Lady stays competitive as newer ships continue entering the market.
More Than Maintenance: A Full Ship Refresh
When many passengers hear the words “dry dock,” they imagine engineers inspecting machinery and workers repainting the hull. While that certainly happened, Valiant Lady’s latest project went much further.
The cruise line used the opportunity to rethink several guest spaces throughout the ship and improve areas that are among the most heavily used during every voyage.
Rather than changing the ship’s identity, Virgin focused on enhancing what guests already love while introducing a few fresh experiences along the way.

The seating areas overlooking the sea have also been upgraded, giving guests additional spots to unwind during sea days.
For many cruisers, outdoor spaces become some of the most-used areas onboard, especially during Mediterranean sailings where warm weather dominates much of the season.

A New Look for Some of the Ship’s Most Popular Hangouts
Several of the ship’s social hubs also received significant attention during the refurbishment.
The Roundabout, which serves as one of the ship’s central gathering areas, now features updated décor, redesigned furnishings, and a fresh look that aligns with Virgin Voyages’ signature style.
Just below it, On The Rocks Bar has been reconfigured to improve visibility and create a more comfortable atmosphere for guests enjoying live entertainment.
Meanwhile, The Dock has been modified with practical improvements aimed at enhancing comfort regardless of weather conditions.

Nightlife Gets a Makeover Too

One of the biggest changes can be found inside The Manor, the ship’s late-night nightclub and entertainment venue.
Raised platforms that previously occupied portions of the space have been removed, creating a more open layout and giving guests additional room to move around during parties and events.

As the afternoon transitions into evening, the space converts into a full-service bar, giving passengers another venue to enjoy cocktails without needing to visit the ship’s larger lounges.

The physical upgrades aren’t the only thing that changed.
Virgin Voyages also introduced several new activities designed to encourage participation and interaction among guests.
The cruise line has become increasingly focused on experiences that help passengers connect with each other rather than simply watching a show from their seats.

Valiant Lady is now home to Ariya, a completely new dining venue focused on modern Indian cuisine.
The restaurant replaces part of the former Razzle Dazzle concept and represents one of the most significant culinary investments Virgin Voyages has made since launching the brand.
Developed alongside acclaimed chef Maneet Chauhan and the team at Indie Culinaire, Ariya blends traditional Indian flavors with contemporary presentation.
The restaurant draws inspiration from India’s vibrant food culture and colorful spice markets, creating an atmosphere designed to be as memorable as the food itself.
What Guests Can Expect at Ariya
The new venue offers a menu that travels across multiple regions of India rather than focusing on a single style of cooking.
Guests will find dishes inspired by both classic and modern interpretations of Indian cuisine.

The restaurant seats approximately 220 guests and is expected to become one of the ship’s most sought-after dining reservations.
Even the venue’s name carries personal significance, as it honors the great-great-grandmother of Virgin founder Sir Richard Branson.
Already Back in Service
Unlike some ships that spend time repositioning after dry dock, Valiant Lady wasted little time returning to operation.
The ship resumed cruises immediately after completing the project and is now back sailing European and Mediterranean itineraries.
Upcoming voyages include a variety of unique sailings, including themed cruises, special events, and a highly anticipated solar eclipse voyage in August 2026.
Later in the year, the ship will reposition to North America before beginning Bermuda and Caribbean deployments.
A Ship That Refuses to Stand Still
Many cruise lines wait a decade or more before significantly updating their ships.
Virgin Voyages has taken a different approach.
Despite Valiant Lady being only a few years old, the company chose to invest heavily in keeping the vessel fresh, modern, and competitive.
