Arranging Royal Caribbean Ships: From Newest to Oldest
---Advertisement---

Since its founding in 1968, Royal Caribbean International has redefined luxury at sea. They are equipped with 26 gorgeous ships in their fleet by 2023, and two more are scheduled to take sail in 2024.

It can be tricky to navigate this large fleet, so let us walk you through the newest acquisitions. Three Norwegian ship owners recognized prospects in the US cruise sector, which led to the founding of Royal Caribbean.

They haven’t stopped pushing the limits of the cruise experience since then. Royal Caribbean has always been committed to size and innovation, as seen by the introduction of ships like Song of Norway and Nordic Prince and the ambitious decision to extend Song of Norway.

They adopted the larger ship trend in the early 1980s, introducing Song of America, which redefined the size of passenger ships. They also explored land-based tourism, developing Haiti’s private island of Labadee in 1986.

With the mega-ship Sovereign of the Seas, which had private balconies and a shipboard atrium, they created history in 1988.

With the introduction of ships like Legend of the Seas, which featured larger accommodations and cutting-edge amenities like a shipboard mini-golf course and the amazing Solarium, the 1990s saw a trend toward global cruising.

Royal Caribbean introduced Voyager-class ships featuring ice rinks and rock climbing walls in addition to replacing aging ships with modern Vision-class ships.

The voyage expanded in 2024 with the introduction of another Oasis-class vessel, Utopia of the Seas. In addition, the largest Royal Caribbean ship, the Icon-class ship, is scheduled to debut in 2024 and is expected to feature over 40 eateries and an extensive waterpark.

Even while every Royal Caribbean ship receives routine maintenance, there is a noticeable difference between the newest and oldest ships. Modern amenities and state-of-the-art technology on the newest ships make every cruise an exciting voyage into the forefront of cruising.

From newest to oldest, all of Royal Caribbean’s cruise ships are shown in this chart. Each ship’s kind or class is also indicated. Except, Star of the Seas, Utopia of the Seas, and Icon of the Seas have not yet embarked on their inaugural voyages.

3. Star of the Seas

Star of the Seas

Star of the Seas, the second Icon-class ship from Royal Caribbean, will be unveiled in 2025, following the first Icon-class ship in 2024. Sister ships may differ, even though they frequently have similar features like distinct dining and entertainment options.

These two Icon-class ships were initially scheduled for delivery in 2022 and 2024 when the arrangement was signed in 2016. Timelines for building have, however, been shifted by 12 to 18 months.

What makes the iconic Royal Caribbean ships a favorite among cruise enthusiasts?

Recently, Royal Caribbean ships have changed, expanding more massive and prepped with activities. Families and young couples can enjoy thrilling attractions like zip lines, water slides, skydiving simulators, and escape rooms on newer ships.

These ships often cruise in the summertime in Europe and the wintertime in the Caribbean. The size restrictions of many cruise ports limit them. In order to reach places unreachable to mega-ships, older, smaller ships are still in service.

On board, there are different vibes. Younger people looking for entertainment and lively nightlife are drawn to new ships. Older ships are more serene, which appeals to retired people and senior couples who cherish leisure.

Another distinction is price. Due to their demand and cutting-edge features, newer spacecraft fetch a higher price.

Older ships are attractive because they provide more affordable options for those on a budget, although frequent cruisers pay more for the newest facilities. The decision ultimately comes down to personal preferences.

While new ships open up new opportunities, older ships still have their timeless appeal and affordability. For each cruiser, Royal Caribbean provides a variety of choices.
