A Florida couple is now facing serious felony charges after authorities say they orchestrated a large-scale fraud scheme involving fake cruise bookings, luxury watches, and high-end jewelry, leaving victims out more than $200,000.
The case centers around Antonio Diaz, 65, and Maria Blasco Diaz, 64, who were arrested on April 8 following an investigation by the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office.
How the Alleged Scam Worked
According to authorities, the couple allegedly used personal relationships and trust to convince friends and acquaintances to invest in what appeared to be exclusive deals on travel and luxury goods.
Maria Blasco Diaz reportedly claimed she had access to discounted cruise packages through a contact at a cruise line, offering deals that sounded too good to pass up.
What victims were promised:
- Discounted cruise vacations.
- Room upgrades and drink packages.
- Hotel stays and transportation.
- Travel insurance included.
In total, victims reportedly paid:
- $44,910 for a cruise-related travel package.
However, according to an affidavit obtained by PEOPLE, the promised cruise—scheduled for July 9, 2023—never materialized.

As the cruise date approached, victims began asking for travel documents. Investigators say they were met with repeated delays and shifting explanations.
Eventually, Maria allegedly claimed that her supposed contact at the cruise line had been fired and that she herself had been questioned for overselling packages.

One victim stated that nearly 20 family members believed they were going on the cruise together—only to later discover the entire plan was a scam.
