Disney Cruise Line’s newest and largest ship, Disney Adventure, recently welcomed its first passengers during a special maiden sailing from Singapore.
While many guests were excited to experience the brand-new vessel, early reviews from the inaugural voyage have revealed a mix of impressive entertainment and some unexpected disappointments.
The ship set sail on March 9, 2026, for a short three-night “cruise to nowhere” designed to showcase everything the massive new vessel has to offer.
Passengers were eager to explore the ship’s restaurants, entertainment venues, and attractions — but not every feature delivered the magical experience many expected.
Interior Cabin Design Surprises Some Passengers
One of the biggest talking points from the first sailing involved the ship’s interior staterooms, particularly those located on Deck 13.
These cabins are a new concept for Disney Cruise Line. Instead of traditional interior rooms without windows, some cabins overlook public spaces inside the ship, offering views into areas like Disney Imagination Garden.
While the view impressed many guests, the cabin layout itself raised a few concerns.
When the beds are prepared for the evening, the room becomes quite tight.

Instead, the couch cushions used for sleeping had only a thin topper placed on top.

Because certain interior cabins overlook public areas of the ship, some guests also noticed noise coming from the spaces below.
Passengers staying in rooms facing Imagination Garden reported hearing sounds from the public venue even with their cabin doors closed.
While the concept of interior cabins with views is unique, it may also come with more noise than traditional inside rooms, especially during busy events or entertainment shows.
One Major Attraction Was Not Operating
Another disappointment for passengers on the maiden voyage involved one of the ship’s most exciting attractions.
Disney Adventure features Ironcycle Test Run, which is promoted as the longest roller coaster at sea and the first of its kind on a Disney cruise ship.
However, during the inaugural sailing, the ride never opened for guests.
While it’s not unusual for brand-new attractions to experience technical delays during a ship’s early sailings, many passengers were disappointed they couldn’t try one of the ship’s headline features.
Dining and Theater Design Also Received Mixed Feedback
A few additional elements of the ship also generated mixed reactions from early guests.
Some passengers mentioned that the Walt Disney Theater felt darker compared to theaters on other Disney ships.

The interior color palette and lighting design were noticeably different from the brighter style typically associated with the brand.
Meanwhile, certain restaurant menus received mixed reviews as well. As with any cruise ship, food opinions can vary widely depending on personal taste.
Some guests enjoyed the culinary options, while others felt a few menus lacked the creativity expected from Disney’s newest vessel.
Disney Offered Onboard Credit to Guests
In response to the issues reported during the maiden voyage, Disney Cruise Line extended a goodwill gesture to passengers.
Guests received $100 in onboard credit per stateroom, which appeared on their accounts toward the end of the sailing.
The message delivered to passengers explained that the credit was meant to thank them for their patience and understanding while the new ship continued fine-tuning its operations.
However, some passengers noted that the credit could only be used during that specific cruise, which meant it wasn’t very helpful for travelers who didn’t plan to spend much onboard.

Despite the early hiccups, many passengers were still impressed by the ship’s entertainment lineup.

The stage show blends Disney storytelling with Pixar themes and advanced puppetry techniques.

For the foreseeable future, Disney Adventure will remain based in Singapore, offering short sailings designed primarily for onboard experiences rather than port visits.
Most itineraries will be three- and four-night cruises to nowhere, allowing passengers to focus on the ship’s attractions, dining, and entertainment.
With time and adjustments, Disney Cruise Line hopes the ship will fully live up to the high expectations that come with launching its newest flagship.
