After weeks of uncertainty and unexpected delays, both ships from Celestyal Cruises are finally back where they belong—ready to restart their Mediterranean season.
The cruise line confirmed that Celestyal Discovery and Celestyal Journey have successfully completed their long journey back to Europe after being stuck in the Persian Gulf for nearly two months due to regional conflicts.
Now, with both ships safely through key transit points like the Strait of Hormuz and the Suez Canal, operations are finally getting back on track.
A Delayed Start… But a Safe Return

For weeks, these ships—and several others—were unable to leave the Middle East due to safety concerns tied to ongoing tensions in the region.
That meant canceled sailings, disrupted itineraries, and a lot of uncertainty for passengers.
Now, both vessels are heading toward Athens, where they’ll officially restart their cruise programs in early May.
- Celestyal Discovery → resumes sailings on May 1, 2026.
- Celestyal Journey → resumes sailings on May 2, 2026.
It’s a delayed start to the season—but an important reset for the cruise line.
Celestyal Discovery: Short Greek Getaways Return

First Sailing Highlights
The ship’s first cruise of the season includes stops at:

These shorter sailings are especially popular with travelers looking for quick, port-heavy trips packed with iconic destinations.
Celestyal Journey: Longer Cruises Across the Adriatic & Aegean

While Discovery focuses on shorter itineraries, Celestyal Journey is targeting guests who want a more immersive, weeklong experience.
- Built: 1993

Upcoming Itinerary Includes
- Dubrovnik (Croatia)
- Kotor (Montenegro)

A Thank You After a Challenging Period
Following the disruptions, Celestyal took a moment to acknowledge the people who helped navigate the situation.
The company thanked:
- Crew members
- Guests
- Travel partners
A reminder of how complex cruise operations can be—especially when global events come into play.
It Wasn’t Just Celestyal
Celestyal wasn’t alone in this situation.
At least four other cruise ships were also affected by the same regional tensions and were unable to operate as planned.
The good news?
All of them have now begun repositioning voyages and are preparing to resume service in different parts of the world.

For anyone planning a Mediterranean cruise this season, this update is a positive sign.
- Ships are back in position.
- Itineraries are restarting.
- Summer sailings are moving forward.
While there may have been delays, the season is now officially back on track.
