55-Year-Old Cruise Passenger Missing After Shore Excursion in St. Maarten—Authorities Ask for Public's Help

A 55-year-old American passenger from the Holland America Line cruise ship Rotterdam is missing after a shore excursion on the Caribbean island of St. Maarten.

Authorities are asking the public for help in locating Ann Evans, who disappeared after stepping off a tour bus in Marigot on November 20, 2025.

What Happened During the Shore Excursion?

Ann Evans was aboard the Rotterdam, which was docked at the cruise port in St. Maarten, when she left the ship for a shore excursion.

According to reports from the Police Force of Sint Maarten (KPSM), she left the ship at 10:00 AM and boarded a tour bus for an island sightseeing trip.

The tour bus made a stop in Marigot, located on the French side of the island. After stepping off the bus, Evans did not return to the vehicle or the ship, and her whereabouts remain unknown.

Search Underway Across Two Sides of the Island

Both the Dutch and French sides of St. Maarten have mobilized their police forces in the search for Evans.

The Sint Maarten Police Force (KPSM) and the French Gendarmerie are working together, searching for any sign of the missing passenger.

Authorities are calling on anyone who may have seen Ann Evans or has information about her whereabouts to get in touch with the police immediately.

In particular, the police are asking for help from anyone who was in the Marigot area on November 20.

If you have any information, please contact the following:

  • Police Force of Sint Maarten (KPSM): +1 (721) 542-2222
  • Gendarmerie (French Police) in Saint-Martin: +590 590-29-25-25

An Urgent Call to Ms. Evans: Contact Authorities if You’re Safe

Authorities have also made a direct appeal to Ann Evans in case she comes across this message.

They urge her to reach out to her family or the police immediately to confirm she is safe and well.

Rotterdam’s Voyage and the Impact on the Search

The Rotterdam is currently on a 21-day round-trip sailing from Port Everglades, with a scheduled return to its homeport on November 28, 2025.

While the ship and its crew are not involved in the search, the incident is a tragic reminder of the unforeseen challenges that can arise during a shore excursion, even on the most carefully planned cruise vacations.

What’s Next for the Investigation?

As the search continues, authorities are leaving no stone unturned, working around the clock in hopes of locating Ann Evans.

The cooperation between the Dutch and French authorities is crucial, as the island of St. Maarten is split between the two nations.

For now, passengers on the Rotterdam are likely feeling a mix of concern and uncertainty, with the hope that Evans will be found safe and sound soon.
