Costa Diadema: The Queen of the Toy Bricks

Costa Cruises flagship reproduced with over 124,000 pieces on display at “ExhiBricks – Mattoncini a Genova”

GENOA, Italy (June 21, 2018) – Costa Diadema, the latest flagship of Costa Cruises, has been reproduced using around 124,500 Toy Bricks, creating an extraordinary model that measures 120 inches in length, 27 inches in height and it weighs around 276 pounds.

The result is an exact replica of the Costa Diadema, with particular attention paid to the smallest details. It’s equipped with 995 lights, a working siren and funnel, cabins with balcony, swimming pools, including one with a mobile cover, terrace overlooking the sea, umbrellas and deck chairs, bar and buffet restaurant. There is even an Italian flag flying at the stern. The author of the work, which took 450 hours to complete, is Pierluigi Alberto Cervati, owner of the “La città del mattoncino” (Brick City) shop in Bergamo.

The incredible model will be exposed during the event “ExhiBricks – Mattoncini a Genova” on June 23-24, in the Sala del Porto at Piazzale San Benigno, a few metres from the Lantern. The exhibition, free of charge, has been organisedby the newly formed LiguriaBricks association to share and spread the passion for toy bricks, not only among children and their families, but also to anyone who is curious to see some of the endless creative applications of this wonderful game.

Costa Diadema, which entered service in 2014, is the latest flagship in the Costa Cruises fleet, nicknamed the “Queen of the Mediterranean” for the elegance of its interior spaces and the itinerary it offers every week in the Mediterranean Sea, with calls at its home port of Savona every Saturday.
